Grass-Fed and
Pastured Meats
Beef
Many studies have shown that the nutrients in beef can vary depending on what cows eat. Our cattle are 100% grass-fed and receive no growth hormones. We raise them on a polyculture of perennial and annual grasses and legumes, moving the herd to fresh grasses daily so the pasture has 44 days to regenerate before returning to the same location to graze again. Our pastures are planted with a no till drill. We do not use any synthetic fertilizers, herbicides or pesticides. During the winter, our cows eat silage that we cut and bale for them from our fields in the spring and summer.
Pork
Our pigs live outside where they get to express their natural instincts and forage to supplement their diet. They have continual access to a Non-GMO mix of locally grown grains and drink the same clean well water that we do. Ask to see them when you visit the farm.
Poultry
Our broiler chickens (meat birds) are raised on pasture in hoop houses that are moved twice daily to ensure access to clean grass. The hens (egg-layers) are free to roam, but you will often find them foraging close by to their home base which consists of multiple mobile hen houses that contain roost bars, nest boxes and a watering system. These mobile hen houses are moved daily giving hens access to fresh pasture while distributing their manure across our fields. In addition to what they eat on pasture, the poultry is fed a mix of local Non-GMO grains and organic minerals. Our birds have no need for antibiotics or steroids living in this environment.
